Villa Cetinale is a 17th century villa in the Ancaiano district near Siena, Italy. Designed by the architect Carlo Fontana, in the Roman Baroque style, the villa was built in 1680 by Cardinal Flavio Chigi for Pope Alexander VII -- Fabio Chigi. The gardens at Villa Cetinale are renowned as being amongst the most beautiful in Italy.

You'll find wonderful restaurants, fun shops, and beautiful architecture. Nearby famous hill towns such as Monteriggioni (15 km), San Gimignano (44 km) and the Chianti region. Florence (1 hour away) with its incredible architecture, bridges, galleries, and museums.
Many fascinating local cultural excursions can be made to places such as the little-known beautiful Romanesque cloister at Torri, the working monastery at Monte Oliveto, or the ruined Cistercian abbey at San Galgano. Nearby is also the unpolluted river Merse, in the hills above Brenna, with many beautiful swimming spots. The coast is about 1 hour away, and one can visit islands such as Elba, Giglio and Giannutri.
